Trauma Informed, Faith Based Counseling
Hi, I’m Ruby Pappachen, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I offer whole-person, faith-based counseling for adults and couples navigating life’s most challenging seasons. Whether you’re working through trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, or feeling spiritually disconnected, I’m here to walk with you through the healing process, body, mind, soul, and spirit.
Each session is tailored to your unique story, blending Christian principles with evidence-based clinical practices to help you find clarity, peace, and renewed purpose.
What You Can Expect
My approach is rooted in deep compassion and respect for your journey. Because of this, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be honest about your emotions, struggles, and questions especially if you’re processing grief, wrestling with your faith, or feeling stuck.
I use a holistic faith based counseling model that integrates:
- Biblical wisdom and spiritual encouragement
- EMDR therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma-informed care to address wounds from the past
- Mindfulness and emotional regulation techniques
- Attachment-based insights to support healthier relationships
I believe that true healing comes when we tend to all parts of ourselves just as Mark 12:30 reminds us to love the Lord with all our heart (spirit), soul (life), mind (thoughts), and strength (body). My goal is to help you bring each of these areas under the covering of God’s love.
Christian Counseling with Grace and Practical Support
My faith informs everything I do, but I also recognize that our emotional experiences are complex and layered. I believe the Bible offers practical guidance for everyday challenges and I also value the role of psychological tools that support healing in specific, powerful ways.
Together, we’ll use faith based counseling to:
- Process overwhelming emotions with honesty and care
- Identify the root causes of pain and self-doubt
- Build coping strategies for managing anxiety and stress
- Explore your spiritual questions without fear or shame
- Restore hope through God’s truth and professional support
I’m passionate about helping you not only heal but grow—emotionally, spiritually, and relationally.
Multicultural Counseling Rooted in Personal Experience
As a daughter of immigrant parents and a South Asian Indian American raised in Texas, I deeply understand what it means to live between two worlds. My own experience as a bicultural woman of faith has shaped how I support clients facing:
- Identity confusion or cultural tension
- Pressure to perform or “hold it all together”
- Emotional pain passed down through generations
- Struggles with belonging, worth, and value
These experiences have taught me to meet people with empathy, especially those who’ve been taught to suppress emotions or rely solely on performance. My background in social work and mental health counseling allows me to blend practical solutions with emotional and spiritual insight.
Premarital Counseling for Christian Couples
I’m also a Gottman Level 1-trained therapist and a certified SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) facilitator. I offer premarital counseling for couples who want to build a Christ-centered foundation for their future marriage.
We won’t just go through a checklist—we’ll have real conversations that help you:
- Spiritually align as a couple
- Strengthen emotional and physical intimacy
- Navigate conflict with grace and truth
- Set expectations rooted in faith and love
I encourage couples to begin premarital counseling early—so you can prepare with purpose and intention rather than react to challenges later.
