Ruby’s Counseling Process
Hi, I’m Ruby Pappachen, a Licensed Professional Counselor serving women throughout Texas with trauma-informed, faith-based counseling. I specialize in helping young adult women navigate anxiety, low self-worth, life transitions, and the journey toward healthy independence. I also provide counseling for individuals experiencing depression, grief, relationship challenges, cultural identity concerns, and spiritual struggles.
From my personal experience, I understand the unique challenges that come from balancing faith, family expectations, cultural values, and personal growth. Many of my clients are young women navigating emerging adulthood, learning to make independent decisions, build confidence, establish healthy boundaries, and discover who they are apart from others’ expectations. Whether you’re feeling stuck, afraid to move forward, or overwhelmed by the transition into adulthood, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Counseling offers a place to slow down, understand what’s keeping you stuck, and begin moving forward with confidence, especially if you’re overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling to leave home, wrestling with self-doubt, or feeling “behind” compared to others your age.
My approach combines biblical truth, evidence-based therapy, and cultural sensitivity to support healing of the whole person—mind, body, soul, and spirit.
What You Can Expect
A Safe and Supportive Space
Healing begins when you feel safe enough to be honest.
I provide a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can openly discuss your emotions, relationships, faith questions, cultural experiences, and personal struggles. Whether you’re processing grief, carrying the weight of family expectations, or feeling disconnected from God, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
I recognize that many clients carry invisible pressures related to culture, family dynamics, achievement, and identity. Along with the pressure to have life figured out while still learning how to become an independent adult. My goal is to create a space where every part of your story is welcomed with compassion and understanding.
Faith-Based Counseling Rooted in Clinical Excellence
I use a holistic faith based counseling model that integrates:
- Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP)
- Biblical wisdom and spiritual encouragement
- EMDR therapy, The Murray Method, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma-informed care to address wounds from the past
- Mindfulness and emotional regulation techniques
- Attachment-based insights to support healthier relationships
I believe that true healing comes when we tend to all parts of ourselves just as Mark 12:30 reminds us to love the Lord with all our heart (spirit), soul (life), mind (thoughts), and strength (body). My goal is to help you bring each of these areas under the covering of God’s love.
Healing also means developing the confidence to make decisions, trust yourself, and embrace the responsibilities that come with adulthood. As your confidence grows, so does your ability to build healthy relationships, establish boundaries, and move toward the life God has called you to live.
Helping Young Adults Build Confidence and Independence
Emerging adulthood can feel overwhelming. Maybe you’re afraid of making the wrong decision, anxious about moving out, struggling to trust yourself, or wondering why adulthood feels harder than it seems for everyone else.
These experiences are more common than you think. Anxiety, perfectionism, family expectations, and past experiences can make it difficult to move confidently into adulthood.
Together, we’ll identify what’s keeping you stuck, strengthen your confidence, and help you take healthy steps toward greater independence while honoring your faith, values, and relationships.
Multicultural Counseling and Cultural Competence
As a South Asian Indian American raised in Texas and the daughter of immigrant parents, I understand what it feels like to live between cultures.
Many of my clients, including second-generation Indian American women and young adults, come to counseling feeling caught between competing expectations.
- Family expectations versus personal goals
- Cultural traditions versus individual identity
- Faith convictions versus societal pressures
- Eastern values versus Western culture
- Remaining loyal to family while becoming an independent adult
As an Indian American Christian Counselor, I help clients navigate:
Cultural Identity and Belonging
Many bicultural individuals struggle with questions such as:
- Where do I belong?
- Am I honoring my family while staying true to myself?
- How do I navigate conflicting cultural expectations?
Together, we explore these questions with curiosity, compassion, and practical support.
Intergenerational Trauma and Family Dynamics
Many immigrant families carry unspoken pain, sacrifice, and survival strategies that can impact future generations.
I help clients process:
- Intergenerational trauma
- Family conflict
- Parent-child relationship challenges
- Emotional suppression
- Perfectionism and achievement pressure
- Shame and self-worth struggles
- Difficulty becoming independent because of family expectations or anxiety
Through culturally sensitive counseling, we work toward healing patterns that no longer serve you while honoring the strengths and resilience of your family story.
Christian Counseling with Grace and Practical Support
My faith informs everything I do, but I also recognize that our emotional experiences are complex and layered. I believe the Bible offers practical guidance for everyday challenges and I also value the role of psychological tools that support healing in specific, powerful ways.
Together, we’ll use faith based counseling to:
- Process overwhelming emotions with honesty and care
- Identify the root causes of pain and self-doubt
- Build coping strategies for managing anxiety and stress
- Explore your spiritual questions without fear or shame
- Restore hope through God’s truth and professional support
- Develop greater confidence as you navigate adulthood and life transitions
I’m passionate about helping you not only heal but grow—emotionally, spiritually, and relationally.
Premarital Counseling for Christian Couples
I’m also a Gottman Level 1-trained therapist and a certified SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) facilitator. I offer premarital counseling for couples who want to build a Christ-centered foundation for their future marriage.
We won’t just go through a checklist—we’ll have real conversations that help you:
- Spiritually align as a couple
- Strengthen emotional and physical intimacy
- Navigate conflict with grace and truth
- Set expectations rooted in faith and love
I encourage couples to begin premarital counseling early—so you can prepare with purpose and intention rather than react to challenges later.
